I remember that on one of the classes with David he mentioned using the Blueberry Solid Extract in smoothies, yoghurt, and just plain by the spoonful (because its so tasty) and I wanted to let you all in on my experiment. My husband and I have been on an oatmeal kick for breakfast lately. We add in seasonal fruit AND David's yummy Blueberry Solid Extract, along with cinnamon and cocoa. We are going to try the other solid extracts, but right now I'm pretty satisfied with the blueberry taste and that my eyesight might even improve. :) Next, I am going to experiment with making a porridge out of quinoa to increase the protein content instead of oats. Does anyone have experience with using quinoa or other protein-high breakfast cereals? We are noting that we'd like to feel more satiated, longer, after an oatmeal breakfast. Thanks in advance! Happy Eating, Nina ps: I do like to soak my oatmeal according to the Weston A Price method of pre-soaking grains. If I do follow this method (which really means remembering the night before), I add in raisins, and raw almonds (which are the best!)

Hi Nina, How fun!! I love kitchen experimentation! Right now, I'm also doing the overnight rolled oats (but the old fashioned longer cooking type). I add in dried fruit (fresh if I have any) - sometimes also overnight if it's of the sweeter variety, like raisins. I always put in a good scoop of either fresh ground flax or chia for the EFAs - and this might help it satisfy longer, as well as either soymilk or coconut milk powder (post cooking). I used to add in some nut butter (also after cooking) that had quite a bit of staying power, but since I've started doing some long rides in the morning, I've been leaving this out - just too heavy for the activity. Back in the day, I used to cook up quinoa every morning instead of oats, and I remember it kept me going for quite a while. As I recall, I added in EFAs back then also (but I'm pretty sure at that point I was using the straight-up oils - a Tbsp of flax/chia/hemp oil), along with some nut butter and I may have added in flax meal on top of that. It's kinda funny - I recall that I was taking my requisite nutrition class at the time and I broke down the caloric content of that breakfast I used to make and it came in at around a thousand kcals!! I must have needed it at the time, as I was commuting on the bike constantly, but that seems a bit too heavy of a breakfast for me right now. That said, I usually have a second breakfast after my ride these days … and I have no plans to calculate the kcals for the current intake - too busy with herbs now! :) Besides, there is much to be said for the more intuitive approach to eating. Anyway, thank you for sharing! Hopefully there's something helpful in my rambling for you also. I am SO looking forward to trying those solid extracts - and that sounds like a fabulous way to add it in! Cheers and blessings, Shana
