David,
I recently made a red clover tincture, (1:5), 35% ETOH. I dried out the red clover as indicated and grinded with a coffee grinder. As opposed to tincturing roots, I found red clover "fluffy" and the alcohol/water was not enough to cover the plant material. Do I need to use weights or something to keep the plant material below the water/alcohol? Any advice?
Also in regards to harvesting elderberry, how do you know when the berries are ready to harvest? Is it ok to just leave them out to dry before tincturing or should they be dehydrated?
Thank you!
