I have a friend who is pregnant (13 weeks) and is having trouble stopping the use of THC via smoking. She is hoping for some herbal support with ths. My first thought is to mimic a smoking blend using mullein, rose, lemon balm, skullcap, and motherwort. My goal is to add relief and relaxation while also giving her something to do with her hands / mouth / ritual aspects of smoking THC. I also want to give a tincture. Normally I use Lobelia and sometimes Ghost pipe for cravings, but since she is pregnant this time I am thinking of Milky oats, and motherwort. Obviously the ideal is that she stop smoking all together while pregnant - but again, I aim to work with what she will be able to do / give up first, and then build from there. Any suggestions on any of the above on how I can better help my friend.

I would not recommend this, smoking anything is not good for you (especially during pregnancy) and the medicinal qualities of the herbs you mention would almost all be destroyed by burning. I might consider a tea combining organic Oat straw, Linden Flower, Chamomile, Jujube date and Lemon Balm or a Milky Oat Glycerite. It is important to note that few herbs have actually been proven to be safe during pregnancy, so I usually stick to gentle, mild “food herbs” like I mentioned above which women have used for millennia without any known adverse effects on pregnancy outcomes. Ghost Pipe is a threatened species and there are better herbs for dealing with “cravings”. I usually do not use tinctures during pregnancy and there is disagreement whether Motherwort is safe during pregnancy (unfortunately no studies).
