I grow turmeric in pots that can me moved inside to obtain the length of time needed to mature despite my short growing season. I grow it because I eat a lot of turmeric. I will grate it raw on salads, dry it and make powder for winter storage and sometimes I will freeze it. I have only ever really thought of it as a cooking herb and enjoy the flavor. To make my powder I use a dehydrator at 95F. I slice it thin and store the slices until I wanted to grind them. (I also do this same process for garlic and ginger) to make the tea or tincture would I need change my drying process at all? I have the ability to freeze dry if this useful at all.
David said: Freeze drying is fine, but probably not necessary and your process for drying would be fine for tincturing, but Turmeric also makes wonderful fresh tincture, that is what I use.
