I am curious about David’s thoughts on biologics, specifically IL-23 blockers like tremfya for treating autoimmune disorders like psoriasis? I seem to hear mixed things from herbalists, some saying they aren’t terrible drugs, others wanting to avoid them altogether because of the immune suppression mechanisms. What does David think? In my experience, psoriasis has been very difficult to treat with diet, lifestyle and herbs. It also seems to require an enormous commitment that can be really hard to get compliance with.

David said: They can have serious adverse effects in a few people, but for many they work well and only have minor side effects. They work quicker than herbs/diet/lifestyle and are easier than having to change your life. It really depends on what a person is willing to do, finances, and a persons attitudes towards treatment preferences. They are no good or bad, they don’t always work, but for some people like with Crohn’s disease they work better than almost anything else I have seen.
