Hi David, https://www.mdlinx.com/news/long-covid-new-evidence-for-cause-of-fatigue-syndrome/3GkgRU4LyzyikfMq1gGmYP?mdl_cp_loc=news_bottom&mdl_cp_imp=3GkgRU4LyzyikfMq1gGmYP%7C1hOkjwopcfy36evO9Cf7k2%7C6V0bwqH7OB9FSOQBieqCIY%7C6nO77lJIFlyr2iRNbRmLSN This study (link above) suggests that "an exaggerated anti-inflammatory response is likely to be responsible for Long Covid Syndrome." They found in patient studied that "all important potential markers for acute inflammatory processes were below the levels of healthy donors or not detectable at all in LCS patients". It seems if this is true, anti-inflammatory herbs would potentially be contraindicated and yet they seem to be of help. I'm wondering how you would think about this? Thank you, Kim Wass

I think this shows the problems with looking at one study , while they say inflammatory markers are low (ecosanoids, cytokines, etc) , many other studies have found very high levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1B, IL-6, IL-7, IL-17, TNF-alpha), with neuro-inflammation, and inflammation of the gut, liver, lungs, pancreas. cardiovascular system, epithelial and endothelial cells, at this point I would view this study somewhat skeptically, as it goes against virtually every other study I have seen and my clinical experience as well. Still there may be something they are seeing that will eventually make sense in the larger picture.
