I have a client who has experienced 2 concurrent rounds of yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis. She was put on antibiotics but now the infections have returned and now have symptoms that include itching. She had a surgery to correct a posterior vaginal prolapse in April 2023 and since then has struggled with nerve pain and is on medication for that. She also has a history of post herpetic neuralgia. Prior to the yeast infections she was taking "ION Gut Support" which has Humic Extract and had also taken 3 doses of vaginal valium to help with pelvic pain. I am curious as to whether the gut healing protocol could cause bacteria to move from the digestive tract into the reproductive system causing a healing crisis and yeast overgrowth? If this is not possible, then does anything else stand out about the above that might correlate? She was also stressed at the time, but cannot seem to rid herself of this infection now. Her tongue is white. What would you suggest to remove infection and return to healthy flora. Is it advisable to take probiotics with an active yeast infection?

Is she sexually active ? she could have been reinfected by her partner. Humic Extract not a fan very pro oxidative . She may want to try PEA/Palmitoylethanilimide for her pain, Alpha-llipoic acid may also be of use.. Herbs for neuralgic pain include SJW, Chuan Xiong, Prickly Ash, Sweet Melilot, and perhaps some Jamaica Dogwood or Corydalis. I personally do not believe in the healing crisis, and I do not think the gut healing is likely to have anything to do with this. Her tongue is white. That suggests cold, if the moss is heavy then cold/damp, but is the entire tongue white or just part of it ? Yes, probiotics are fine and a vaginal probiotic is indicated. A vaginal suppository in a coconut oil/cocoa butter base with Tea Tree EO, Goldenseal, Usnea, Oregano, and Da Qing Ye/Isatis would be useful as well. I do not know of any commercial preparations like this although there might something similar. Really high grade Manuka honey with a few drops of EO of Lavender can also treat candidiasis but it is really messy.
