Hello, I am looking for some advice on adding herbs to my typical conventional treatment for giardia in dogs. Usually I would treat with fenbendazole once daily for 5 days, then 30 days of probiotics and then re-test fecal sample. I would like to add some herbs in this time to help ensure resolution (some dogs test positive again even after treatment) and help improve gut health. This little Boston terrier also came to me with a long history of antibiotic use (of and on for months and ended up with resistant staph infection) for skin issues so I suspect some level of dysbiosis may be present as well. I am trying to use things that we have in stock at the clinic and came up with this combination and would love your input. 1 part andrographis, 1 part sweet annie, 1 part oregon grape root To balance out cooling effects of these herbs on digestion - garnish meals with a small amount of ginger and cinnamon - I believe that this combo is good for gut healing after giardia as well - not sure if we talked about that in this class or if I read that elsewhere. Once the giardia treatment is complete I will recommend high quality multi strain probiotics and the Chinese herbs that we were about to start to address allergic skin issues. Dana

Not necessary, if you can get some Pippali Long Pepper it inhibits Giardia and is warming.
