Is there any topical remedy for an enlarged breast - large red nodulous breast? My dog is 16 years old and has pain - is limping and walks all night long. How about an internal remedy perhaps based on Turkey tail mushroom? Thanks a lot!

I started pouring a little castor oil on the swallen breast and it had a very soothing effect on her, it stopped the pain and agitation and she fell asleep. I tried the same thing today and after 25 min it had the same effect. Tge area became a bit more inflamed but white not red. I was reading about castor oil: “Castor oil is a tried and tested remedy for sore breasts and is quick to remedy breast pain. Apply some castor oil to a fresh towel, then apply it to the sore breast. Cover it again with a fresh, dry cloth after placing a heating pad on top of it. If possible, leave it on for at least an additional 30 minutes. After a few days of doing this, you’ll feel considerably better. Castor oil penetrates the skin much more deeply than other oils, giving it access to deeper tissues and is popular among breast soreness remedies. It can reach depths of up to 4 inches and draws deeply. Therefore, you can make a nice self-care ritual by putting some heat on top of that. Due to its abundance of protein, fatty acids, minerals, and vitamin E, it is an excellent oil to relieve breast pain.” https://drrajeevagarwal.in/blog/quick-remedy-for-breast-pain/

Has this been looked at by a Veterinarian ? Turkey tail will not touch this, it sounds like a mastitis (infection) or it could be something even more problematic. Your dog is in pain and figuring out why and then dealing with it are in my opinion essential. Castor oil is ok if this is a benign breast swelling , but will not ultimately be effective for an infection or carcinoma.
