Hi David, I have a few questions about herbs and CIs for someone (dear friend) with CAD who is on multiple meds (angiotensin II receptor antagonist; HCL; statin; cholesterol absorption inhibitor; baby aspirin; antiplatelet; beta blocker; proton pump inhib; Tramadol/opiate for pain). She is in deep grief from losing husband and has osteoporosis. 1. She's interested in your grief remedy (equal parts rose/mimosa bark/hawthorn berries & leaf). I know hawthorn is contraindicated - are there any alternatives to hawthorn for this remedy that you might consider for someone on all those meds? Maybe just leave it out and give her rose and mimosa? Would rose be CI as well since it's astringent and could interfere with the tramadol (alkaloidal med), or do you think it would be OK? 2. She's interested in H&A's Osteoherb as well (she's blind and can't make infusions, so she's thrilled with the idea of a capsule!), and I don't see any CIs for her with that. Would you agree? Thank you.

Hawthorn is not necessarily CI, I have seen it interact with Beta Blockers twice, but that is a very rare interaction. Rose is not CI with anything as far as I know, Mimosa there is simply no information. This is a situation you might want to consider Bach Flower remedies, along with mild teas like Lemon Balm, hawthorn and Mimosa flowers I know of no CI for Osteoherb
