Hello David, We have 2 aging cats who have struggled in the past with passing stools. Having consulted with their veterinarian, the vet recommended 1/8 teaspoon of Miralax mixed into their wet canned cat food on a daily basis. We have used this for well over a year with success. Well, we ran out and one cat is having trouble pooping again. She will puke when trying to poop and the poop will be very solid with runny-ness surrounding it. Clearly, she's having trouble. I am giving her Miralax to alleviate her symptoms again but would like to find a more wholesome solution in the long term for these aging cats. When I researched Miralax online, I found that the main ingredient is Polyethylene glycol. The FDA says that it can produce neuropsychiatric events but there is no clarification on what that really means. Do you have any idea what they could be referring to? No to Senna, it is a habit forming stimulant laxative. Better would be Magnesium oxide (works on people, possibly cats as well), or Butternut bark, Jue Ming Zi/Cassia tora seed, with Dandelion root and Violet leaf. I don’t usually work with animals so no , I haven’t dealt with this issue before in cats.
