Making a Tincture Math Questions

I was recently rewatching classes that Kerry taught about making tinctures and I am still a bit confused about a few things... I was always taught to assume for tincture making that 1 gram herb = 1 mL menstruum. Kerry introduced the conversion number (1.0418g=1mL menstruum) to make it more accurate. When rewatching old classes I decided to look into it a bit more, to make the information more solid in my brain. What I found is that 1 gram=1mL water and 1.0418g=1mL EtOH. So it would make the conversion more accurate if you have a high percentage of alcohol. I guess my question for this is, what do you do in commercial production? I hope to make my own products for sale someday, and I want to do it correctly, and according to industry standards. The second, bigger confusion is about fresh plant tinctures. I was always told that the common 1:2 ratio for fresh tinctures is to account for the water that is in the fresh plant. When following Kerry's instructions, you figure out the water loss after drying the fresh plant, and subtract that water amount from your menstruum, but still using a 1:2 ratio. In my brain, it seems like we are accounting for the extra water twice in that way. What am I missing here, and what is done in commercial production? Thank you!

We use the conversion number, because 1 gram = 1 mL is only true at 4 degrees centigrade (39.2 degrees fahrenheit) and it has to be 100% pure water. The total menstrumm is 1:2, that includes the water in the fresh herb.
