There seems to be a lot of buzz around immunotherapy drugs (immune checkpoint inhibitors with brand names like Keytruda, Yervoy and Opdivo) as a gentler replacement / adjunct therapy to conventional cancer therapies. Do you have an opinion on these drugs? Are they still too risky or are they useful to investigate in addition to herbal protocols? I ask because I am, in addition to herbs, researching immunotherapy cancer trials for my father-in-law who has stage 3 colorectal cancer. Thank you, Shereen

I have not worked with anyone taking these medications so I am not very familiar with their effects and possible adverse effects and potential for interactions. Some of the more common adverse effects include Diarrhea, Pneumonitis (inflammation in the lungs), Rashes and itchiness, Problems with some hormone levels and Kidney infections.
