In this month's Grad class case History (due JM 2/15/2021), how concerned are you about this person's risk of calcipylaxis? She mentioned feeling sensations similar to how her mother's disease began when taking Vitamin D. She has had this happen twice. Does this reaction to Vitamin D point to anything about how her body is using calcium that could be off and should be followed up on with her physician? Is there anything in her bloodwork that shows concern about this? Does Calciphylaxis run in families? And should we be thinking about supporting her kidneys with herbs? Or is there not really enough info to go on? Thanks,

Possibly, but hard to know for certain Is there anything in her bloodwork that shows concern about this? NO Does Calciphylaxis run in families? , but in people who are not on dialysis (a case of calciphylaxis), it is believed to be related to abnormal blood clotting factors which can run in families And should we be thinking about supporting her kidneys with herbs? Or is there not really enough info to go on? Thanks, Not enough info to go on, but she is aware of the issue and hopefully has discussed it with her physician, because calciphylaxis is not a good diagnosis and has a poor prognosis
