In the Materia Medica it states:
"Separate ingestion of Bladderwrack from pharmaceutical medications by 2-3 hours, as mucopolysaccharides can inhibit
absorption of many drugs. In an animal study co-administration of Fucus and amiodarone significantly decreased plasma
levels and bio-availability (55.4% decrease) of the drug (Rodrigues, et al, 2013)."
So, I was wondering if there is any absorption or compatibility issues with mixing this herb with other herbs or supplements (in a triune etc)? If I put it in a triune with other herbs will it block their absorption?
With compatibility, this herb is rather thick. Can it be mixed with astringent herbs? Or will I have problems like you would with marshmallow etc?
Thank you!
Stephen
In most cases I don’t believe so, but with some alkaloid-containing medications such as Lobelia, Goldenseal, Ephedra, etc, it might decrease absorption. No, I don't believe you'd have the problems encountered with Marshmallow.
