Osteoherb in pregnancy/lactation

Hi David, I am curious as to why Osteoherb is contraindicated during pregnancy/lactation. Is it the horsetail? I did not read about any direct issues with horsetail in the MM, except that it may be contraindicated with blood thinning medications. With blood volume changes during pregnancy and postpartum blood loss, is that the potential concern? This seems like it could be great for breastfeeding mothers in particular, who have high nutritional needs. Thanks! Hillary

David said: It is because of California prop 65, which set lead levels below the federal standard. They had to except milk and wheat because none would meet the standards California set. Unfortunately they did not exempt anything else so Nettles and the other herbs have naturally occurring levels that the federal government says is safe during pregnancy, but does not meet the California law.
