I have a 5 year old girl who was diagnosed with IIH… I have no idea how to approach this and do you have any recommendations for us for this family? She started getting migraines frequently and they ended up taking her to chop. All of her blood work besides that came back fine. Any help for this family would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, David.

David said: Wow, this is very rare in a child that age, it mostly occurs in women age 20-36, who are overweight. I have never treated this in someone so young, so many of the herbs I would use in an adult are not really appropriate for a 5 year old. With IIH the headaches usually feel throbbing with dizziness, tinnitus, nausea, blurred vision and neck pain. Can the girl say what the pain feels like to her ? which of these symptoms does she have ? I know getting precise information from a 5 year old can be difficult, but some are quite articulate. iI she overweight ? Does she have a red head, ears, eyes (liver fire rising) ? Has her diet or environment changed just before this started ?

Good morning, I just spoke with the mom and here is all the information she gave me. Her opening pressure is over 30 with no vision change. Her headaches are throbbing and maybe some dizziness. The headaches are worse in the morning and has them almost every day. No red eyes, head or ears. Not over weight and is in the 96% title. Back on December 5 the mom and the 5 year old were in a car accident. The little girl was asleep in the back in her car seat with her head tilted to the side when they were rear ended. After the accident, she immediately complained of her neck hurting they went to the emergency room and found absolutely nothing wrong.. The second week of January is when they had to take her to the pediatric emergency room and she was diagnosed with IIH. The little girl is always cold, vitamin A was good, red blood cell count was up, white blood cell count was up. Prior to the accident current health concerns is she suffers with chronic constipation, eczema, and asthma.. Mom also stated that she was never cold like this until after the accident but constipation has gotten better. They don't know where else to turn and they don't know what else to do and like I said before I have no idea how to approach this with a five-year-old girl. I really appreciate this and so does this young family!! Thank you David!!!

David said: ok, I think the car accident caused this and wonder if cranio-sacral work might help. she also has asthma and eczema, so she has atopy. The constipation has gotten better, better than it was or is it gone ? There is much I do not know, so this is based on limited information and if the parents or you chose to follow this advice it is your responsibility, not mine for the constipation add psyllium seed to water, then once it is slimy add some prune juice, and some juice she likes. Eat kiwi fruit, soaked figs oatmeal, etc for atopy and headaches (this is a tincture,, the adult dose would be about 3-5 ml TID), the child dose would be her weight divided by 150 2 p White Peony 2 p Ligusticum/Chuan Xiong 2 p SJW 2 p Kudzu 2 p Gotu kola 1 p Ginger 1/4 scoop TCM extract granules Tian Ma
