For Wendy- Break through bleeding post menopause

Wendy- A woman with a history of multiple cancers, experience vaginal break through bleeding after a decade of menopause. metabolic issues with blood sugar. uterine lining is too "thick" to get a good biopsy. Medical advice given is a full hysterectomy. Do you think this is extreme surgery?

The reason this is important is that if it is indeed cancer, she needs to see a gyn oncologist for treatment which will include a hysterectomy but other "staging" procedures as well. Worst thing is to let a general gyn do a hysterectomy and THEN find out it's cancer, as they won't have done the rest of the procedure she needs. Let me know if this makes sense.
